Blueberries have the highest antioxidant capacity of all fruits
Blueberries are very rich in antioxidants called anthocyanin, vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, vitamin E, vitamin A, copper (which strengthens immunity and has an antibacterial role), selenium, zinc, iron (promotes immunity by increasing hemoglobin and oxygen concentration from the blood) and thus stimulates the immune system and prevent infections. Once your immunity is strong, you will avoid colds, fever, chickenpox and many of the diseases that can be transmitted, both virally and bacterially.
Blueberries neutralize free radicals that can promote disease and aging in the body
Blueberries are some of the fruits richest in antioxidants. This is mainly due to the presence of anthocyanin, a pigment responsible for the blue color of blueberries. The significant amount of vitamin C is another argument for the beneficial role of these fruits.
Blueberries help reduce fat in the abdomen
A new study suggests that blueberries may help reduce risk factors due to which you can accumulate fat in the abdominal area and thus may decrease the likelihood of cardiovascular disease and metabolic syndrome.
So far, however, no studies have been done on human subjects. The study was done on rats in whose diet a cranberry powder was added. After 90 days, rats that consumed the diet enriched with blueberry powder showed less abdominal fat, lower triglycerides, lower cholesterol, improved fasting blood sugar and increased insulin sensitivity.
Although more research is needed, another study showed that men with risk factors for heart disease who drank wild blueberry juice for 3 weeks had improvements in glucose and insulin control.
Helps maintain healthy urinary tract
The development of bacterial colonies, such as b-coli along the walls of the mucosa inside the urinary tract, are responsible for this infection that leads to inflammation, burning sensation in the type of urination and other complications.
In this case, blueberries can be surprisingly beneficial. They contain a compound made up of large polymers, such as heavy molecules, that inhibit the growth of those bacteria. Blueberries have antibiotic properties, which add to this effect. Large and heavy molecules practically wash these bacteria off the walls of the urinary tract, preventing the onset of infection.
